(CENTRAL HURON, ON) - A 17-year-old novice driver from South Huron will be without wheels and a licence for the rest of this week after he was stopped for racing earlier in the week.
On Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at approximately 12:28 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR patrols on Huron Road near Wildlife Line when a compact car was observed travelling westbound into Clinton at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the RADAR device and measured the speed of the target vehicle at a rate in excess of 50 km/h over the 80 km/h posted speed limit.
A traffic stop ensued and the driver was subsequently charged. The driver, a 17-year-old male from South Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle Perform a Stunt. He will now have to attend Provincial Offences Court in Goderich on June 4, 2019 to answer to the charge. His driver's licence was automatically suspended for seven days and his vehicle was also impounded for a week.
