(NORTH PERTH, ON) - Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on April 28, 2019, a member of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North Perth detachment observed a motor vehicle travelling on Perth Line 86, east of Listowel in the Municipality of North Perth. The vehicle was determined to be travelling at a rate of speed in excess of the posted speed limit and was stopped by police.
Richard VELLA, 41-years-old from Kitchener was charged with the following;
Stunt driving, excessive speed
Driving while under suspension
His driver's licence was seized and a driving suspension was imposed. The vehicle was towed and impounded, and he is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on May 28, 2019 to answer the charges.
The OPP wants to remind driver's that speeding reduces the amount of available time needed to avoid a collision and increases the severity of a collision once it does occur.
