(PERTH EAST, ON) - On February 16, 2019, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County detachment members were called by a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver with a car in the ditch in the Township of Perth East.
OPP officers located the driver and determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. He was arrested and transported to the Sebringville OPP detachment for further testing.
Dean MUIRHEAD, 25-years-old, of the City of Toronto was initially arrested and charged with;
Operation while impaired - alcohol
Failure or refusal to comply with demand to provide a sample
A search incident to arrest revealed a quantity of illicit drugs and were determined through analysis to be fentanyl and carfentanil. All of the illicit drugs combined came to a total weight of just under 50g. This has an estimated street value of $10,600.
MUIRHEAD was later arrested and charged with;
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid, fentanyl and carfentanil
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on June 10, 2019.
