(THAMES CENTRE, ON) - On May 17, 2019 at approximately 11:45 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to report of a suspicious vehicle that appeared to be stuck in a farm field located near the 3000 block of Harrietsville drive in the Municipality of Thames Centre.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the motor vehicle had been reported stolen from Elgin County. Subsequently, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and a search of the motor vehicle revealed a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police obtained information that a second occupant had fled the scene prior to police arrival. West Region (WR) OPP Canine Unit (K9), WR OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) were dispatched to assist, however were unable to locate the suspect.
Police have charged Richard HUMPHREY, 43-year-old, of Tillsonburg, Ontario with the following offences, pursuant to the Criminal Code (CC);
Possession of property obtained by crime, over $5000
Possession of a schedule I substance, two counts
The accused is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in London, Ontario on June 14, 2019.
