(GODERICH, ON) - A 41-year-old from Exeter is facing an Impaired by Drug charge following a traffic stop that took place in Goderich last Friday.
On May 24, 2019 at approximately 11:37 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a parking lot in Goderich to check on the condition of a driver that was slumped over in the driver's seat.
Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer observed several signs that the driver was impaired by a drug. As a result of these observations the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation by a Drug. The driver was then transported to the Lucan OPP Detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE). Upon completion of the DRE evaluation the driver was deemed to be impaired by a drug.
Nicole ELSON, 41 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Impaired Operation by a Drug. The accused has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for June 17, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. Her vehicle was impounded and her licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
