(CENTRAL HURON, ON) - Members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy Gaynor, Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), have laid charges against two individuals in relation to an ongoing death investigation.
Just after 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2019 members from Huron County OPP & Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a residence located on Cut Line Road in the Municipality of Central Huron to assist a male found in medical distress.
David SPIES, 42 years of age, from Central Huron, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As a result of further investigation into this sudden death, Huron County OPP arrested Kayla FIELD, 27 years of age, from Central Huron, on May 28, 2019. The accused has been charged with the following offences:
Traffic a Schedule I Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Possession of a Schedule I Substance - under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Fail to Comply with Probation Order - Criminal Code of Canada Section 733.1(1).
Additionally, last night shortly after 9:00 p.m., Huron County OPP arrested a second suspect in connection with this investigation.
Brandon WEITZEL, 28 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with the following offences:
Traffic a Schedule I Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Fail to Comply with Probation Order - Criminal Code of Canada Section 733.1(1) - Three Counts.
Both accused remain in custody with court appearances scheduled for May 31, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
