(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) - On April 23, 2019, members of the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a stolen box trailer from an address on the 44000 block of Talbot Line, in the Municipality of Central Elgin.
With the assistance of the Middlesex County OPP and Elgin Middlesex Community Street Crime Unit, an investigation into the theft revealed similar reports of stolen trailers throughout Elgin and Middlesex County.
Police have charged Justin ZIEGLER, 30-year-old, of London, Ontario with the following offences, pursuant to the Criminal Code (CC):
Altering/destroying/removing a vehicle identification number;
Possession of property obtained by crime, over $5000;
Trafficking in stolen goods, over $5000; and with
Use, deals, acts on forged document.
Police have also charged Brandi HARVEY, 29-year-old, of London, Ontario with the following offences, pursuant to the Criminal Code (CC):
Possession of property obtained by crime, under $5000; and with
Trafficking in stolen goods, under $5000.
Police are reminding those who choose to purchase items from online sources, to verify that the items are lawfully owned prior to making the purchase.
