(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On June 6, 2019, at approximately 4:30 p.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109, west of Arthur. The officer observed a red pickup truck travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 145 km/h.
While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that they were impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Jose G. COUTO, 65-years-old of Listowel, has been charged with Impaired Operation, Racing and Refusing to comply with a Demand for Breath Sample. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 9, 2019.
