(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - On Friday June 7, 2019, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 89, north of Harriston. The officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 150 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.
22-year-old Brandon William GAUTHIER of Petawawa has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Offences Court on August 21, 2019. The driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
