It seems that getting town staff to stop dumping snow on our sidewalks via updating North Huron’s property standards by-law came with a heavy price. Hidden in the by-law is a line that allows anyone appointed by council as an “officer” to enter anyone’s land without warrant to “inspect” the land to make sure it is in conformance with their new even stricter by-law. A police officer can not do this without a warrant, nor could a judge. Justin Trudeau doesn’t even have the right to enter anyone’s backyard to see what you are doing and to make sure your grass is less than 6 inches long.
Your privacy has been totally eliminated as council could send anyone into your backyard despite your privacy fencing or hedges. Be prepared for some random pervert to enter your backyard at anytime, so it looks like no tan lines are a thing of the past. Just hope the pervert doesn’t hop in your hottub with you and yours.
From the new bylaw
4. An officer may enter onto land and inspect any land to determine whether the provisions of this By-law, or an order issued under this By-law have been complied with.
