(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) - On June 19, 2019 at 1:39 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a residence at Cameron Drive, Saugeen First Nation for a male who assaulted two people. Officers attend and spoke to the complainants who received minor injuries from the assaults. The male left the scene prior to officers arriving and police learned, during the investigation, the identity of the male and that he was inside a residence on Cameron Drive. The male refused to leave the residence when police attended and spoke with him.
At 6:45 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP entered the residence on the strength of a Feeney Warrant and arrested the male party. The male actively resisted police and a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) was deployed to effect the arrest.
OPP have charged 36-year-old, Joshua MISQUADIS of Saugeen First Nation with the following offences:
Assault with a Weapon, section 267 (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
Assault, section 266 CC
Four counts of Breach of Recognizance, section 811 CC
Resist Arrest by Police Officer, section 129 (a) CC
The accused had a bail hearing and was held custody. His next court date is Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on June 24, 2019.
