(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) - On June 23, 2019 at 12:09 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a (silver) Sport Utility Vehicle travelling on Bruce Road 8, South Bruce Peninsula at over 150 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped and the officer observed the male driver to be impaired while operating the motor vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Chatsworth.
73 year old, Peter HORNE of Midland has been charged with the following offences:
Operation of motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
Failure or refusal to comply with breath demand, section 320.15(1) CC
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, section 320.13(1) CC
Race a motor vehicle - Excessive Speed, section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Use plate not authorized for vehicle, section 12(1)(d) HTA
Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, section 2(1)(a) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
The accused has been released on a Promise to Appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 11, 2019.
