(SHAKESPEARE, ON) - On August 27, 2019 at approximately 8:55 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Perth County detachment, Perth County Paramedic Services and Perth East Fire Department responded to the scene of a collision involving two motor vehicles.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Perth Road 107 at Perth Line 33, south of Shakespeare in the Township of Perth East.
A sedan collided with a tractor-trailer unit.
While speaking with the male driver of the sedan, the officer determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The male was arrested and transported to the Sebringville OPP detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
Justin SKINNER, 37-years-old, of West Perth was arrested and charged with;
Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on September 23, 2019 to answer the charges.
"The dangers of driving while impaired are well known and pose a significant risk to public safety, I am urging everyone to plan ahead and arrange for a designated driver or overnight accommodations to avoid a tragedy." Perth County OPP operations manager Acting Staff Sergeant Jason McTaggart.
