(GODERICH, ON) - A traffic stop last night in Blyth has resulted in a criminal charge of "Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus" against a North Huron resident.
On Thursday, February 6, 2020 at approximately 10:16 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a pickup truck travelling northbound on Queen Street in Blyth.
A traffic stop was conducted and upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail.
He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Listowel OPP Detachment for breath tests. Both of his samples provided to the Intoxilizer Technician were found to be over the legal limit.
Brandon HAKKERS, 28 years of age, from North Huron has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. He was later released from custody with a court date scheduled for February 15, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. His vehicle was impounded and his licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
