(WEST PERTH, ON) - The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid numerous charges after receiving a call from the public about a suspicious person in the Municipality of West Perth.
Shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 2020, police received a report of a suspicious person at a church on Perth Road 163. Upon arrival, police located the person asleep in the grass, near a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The licence plate attached to the motorcycle was determined to be stolen, and upon searching the motorcycle for documentation, police located a prohibited weapon.
Upon arrest, the accused was found in possession of methamphetamine, and stolen property (including credit cards, cheques, and a driver's licence).
As a result, Charles William KOCHER, 36, of South Huron, has been charged with:
Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (four counts)
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Fail to Comply with Release Order
Driving while Under Suspension
Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance
Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle
Fail to Notify Change of Address
Fail to Apply for Permit after Becoming Owner
The accused was held for a bail hearing and has since been released from custody.
