(FRENCH RIVER, ON) Police arrested and charged two people with weapons and drug related offences after a traffic stop.
On April 22, 2024, shortly before 7:00 p.m., members from the Sudbury Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a motor vehicle for speeding on Highway 69, French River.
As a result of the investigation, two people were arrested. A search of the vehicle located a handgun, credit cards, Canadian currency, open liquor, and drugs suspected to be cannabis.
The driver, Jamar QUINTYNE, 31 years-of-age from Mississauga, was charged with:
Speeding 1 49 Km/h over posted limit
Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
Jonathan SINCLAIR, 31 years-of-age from Mississauga, was charged with:
Having liquor in open container in unauthorized place
Failure to comply with release order other than to attend court
Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
Both accused were held for Bail Court and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 23, 2024, in Sudbury.
