(PERTH COUNTY, ON.) -The co-ordinated efforts of the Huron and Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachments resulted in the arrest of one male during the early morning hours of October 17th, 2017.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., a stolen White Ford Explorer entered Huron County after being removed from a residence in South Bruce on October 16th, 2017. The motor vehicle was utilized in a theft of fuel from Huron County. The Ford Explorer was followed, where it was observed entering Perth County. Officers were able to successfully deploy a spike belt on Perth Road 145 in the Municipality of West Perth.
The occupants fled from the motor vehicle on foot into a nearby field. Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit members attended and a male was taken into custody at 3:41 a.m.
Thirty-two-year-old Shawn TINNING of Sarnia was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Theft Under $5000.00, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code;
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, contrary to section 354 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code; and
Fail to Comply with Probation, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.
TINNING appeared in bail court on October 18th, 2017.
