(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On December 30, 2017 at approximately 8:15 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision on Bellefield Crescent, Town of Arthur. It was reported that a 2007 Nissan had driven into a parked car at this location. The accused attempted to drive away however became stuck in a snowbank.
OPP attended the crash and while speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was impaired. He was arrested and a search incident to arrest located a quantity of marihuana. He transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.
18-year-old Ian Wayne GORMAN of Arthur has been charged with Driving while Impaired by alcohol and drug. He was also charged with Possession of Marihuana under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor and Novice driver with Blood-Alcohol content above zero. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 25, 2018 to answer to the charges.
