(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA) - On Tuesday, January 2, 2018, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Wellington Road 38, near Guelph.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., the driver of a sedan entered the RIDE check. While speaking with the male driver, officer's detected the odour of fresh marihuana and suspected that he was in possession of a controlled substance. Search incident to arrest revealed that the driver was in possession of marihuana.
29-year-old, Nicholas Kenneth Glenday WHYTE, of Waterloo was charged with Possession of Marihuana under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Breach of Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on February 9, 2018.
