(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) - On January 11, 2018 at 6:42 p.m. Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a motor vehicle collision between two vehicles in Sauble Beach. Police arrived on scene and observed a male driver impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Bruce Peninsula OPP detachment in Wiarton for a breath test. The results of the breath test were over the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
73-year-old, Gordon ROBERTS of Sauble Beach was charged with the following:
Driving while ability is impaired by alcohol 253(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
Drive with more than 80 mg of alcohol in blood 253(b) CC
The accused's driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days on an Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days as a result of the charges. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 25, 2018.
The collision occurred on Sauble Falls Road, South Bruce Peninsula. A northbound Ford (grey) struck a southbound Jeep (black). Both vehicles involved in the collision had to be removed by tow trucks. There were no injuries reported.
