(NORTH HURON, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers continue to investigate a break, enter and theft that took place in North Huron last week.
At approximately 10:18 a.m. on January 24, 2018 Huron OPP officers responded to a residence on Glen's Hill Road after receiving a call from a homeowner that interrupted a break and enter in progress.
The homeowner reported to police a driveway motion alarm was tripped and when she went to check on the activity she noticed a male suspect standing by her garage wearing a ski mask. Once spotted the suspect immediately took off running toward a nearby bush.
Police arrived on scene and began to search for the male suspect. Despite a canine search by the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) the suspect was not located. Police believe the suspect was picked up by an accomplice.
Upon checking the contents of the garage it was noticed the thief made off with an orange & white Stihl chainsaw, a yellow 20 litre jerry can full of diesel fuel and a set of brown snowshoes.
The stolen property is estimated to be worth about $600.
