(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) - On February 20, 2018, members of the Chippewas of The Thames First Nation Police Service and the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle. The description of the vehicle matched the description of a brown 2006 Chevrolet pick-up reported stolen to the Elgin County OPP earlier in the day.
Police conducted patrols of the area and located the vehicle in question. The vehicle was confirmed to be the one reported stolen to Elgin OPP Detachment.
A second vehicle, a black, 2005 Chevrolet Sports Utility vehicle (SUV) was also located. This vehicle had been reported stolen to the London Police Service earlier in the day.
As a result of this police investigation, 19-year-old male, Roland STURGEON of Chippewa of the Thames First Nation was arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x 2 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC).
The accused was held in custody and appeared in a London court on February 21, 2018.
