(ESSA TOWNSHIP) - On Thursday, April 26, 2018 at approximately 7:25 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene of a commercial motor vehicle collision involving two transport trucks.
The collision occurred on Highway 89 at the 10th Line of Essa Township, when one transport truck was rear ended by another transport truck.
Officers were assisted at the scene by Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation team (TTCI), Simcoe County Paramedics and New Tecumseth and Innisfil Fire Departments.
The driver of the truck that sustained significant front cab damage was extricated and airlifted to a Toronto hospital. The 31 year old male is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
Highway 89 remained closed for several hours between the 11th Line and 9th Line of Essa while TTCI investigated. The Highway was reopened just after 6:00 pm.
The investigation is still ongoing.
