(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - This weekend officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged two drivers with alcohol related driving offences.
The first driver was arrested on Saturday April 28, 2018 following an investigation for a two vehicle collision - minor injuries were reported. The collision occurred on Thurstonia Road at approximately 5:30pm. John NEUFELD, 75 years of age, of Dunsford was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Driving a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 7, 2018.
The second driver was arrested and charged following a traffic investigation initiated on Sunday April 29 at approximately 4pm on Somerville 11th Concession. Christopher CARTER, 61 years of age of Toronto is charged with the following offences:
Driving a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 7, 2018.
