(CARLING TOWNSHIP, ON) - On May 2, 2018 at 6:30 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on Highway 400 in Carling Township, Ontario. An officer located the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The officer determined that he had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Scott POSIE, 45 years of age from Bing Inlet, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operate motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Operate motor vehicle - over 80 mg, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CC,
Possess more than one licence contrary to section 35(1)(e) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and
Possess unmarked cigarettes contrary to section 29(a) of the Tobacco Tax Act (TTA).
The OPP reminds motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
