(CHATHAM, ON) On May 4, 2018, around 10:30 a.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) member while on general patrol on Dillion Road when they observed a motor vehicle committing a traffic violation.
Members conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was transported to detachment for further tests.
Upon further investigation, the male driver, Lawrence GERVAIS, 34-years-old of La Salle, Ontario, was charged with dive motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 25, 2018 to answer to the charge.
Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is actively monitoring the "Big 4" driving behaviours; impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt usage.
