(SOUTH HURON, ON) - A 28-year-old from Waterloo is facing charges of Impaired Driving & Refuse to Provide Breath Sample following a traffic stop that took place in Exeter last week.
On Thursday, May 10, 2018 shortly before 5:30 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to patrol for a possible impaired driver that was observed driving in an erratic manner northbound into Exeter on London Road. Police then received a second call from a witness that observed the male now at an Exeter gas station. He was believed to be intoxicated.
A few minutes later a Huron OPP officer arrived on scene and located the driver of the suspect vehicle inside the gas station. Upon speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver was displaying several signs of impairment. Consequently, he was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. Ultimately, the driver refused to provide breath samples to the Intoxilizer Technician.
As a result, 28-year-old Ryan MURDOCH from Waterloo has been charged with Impaired Driving & Refuse to Provide Breath Sample. He has since been released from custody with an upcoming court date scheduled for June 28, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Exeter. His vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for the last week. In addition, his driver's licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
