(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - Yesterday morning at approximately 6:10 a.m. officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Long Beach Road.
Investigation indicated that there were three occupants in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Two of the occupants were transported by ambulance to a local hospital and later released. A third occupant was airlifted to a Toronto area hospital with serious injuries.
The collision resulted in the closure of Long Beach Road between Country Lane and Anderson Line. The OPP's Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) unit attended the scene to assist with the investigation, which is on-going.
The driver, a 17 year old female resident of the City of Kawartha Lakes has been charged with the following offences:
Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) CCC
Driving With More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b)CCC
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 31, 2018.
