(PERTH COUNTY, ON) - In just a few days, students will be dismissed for the summer. The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wants to see everyone enjoy their summer holiday safely.
Motorists should expect to see an increase in the amount of pedestrian traffic as scooters, rollerblades, skateboards and bicycles take to the streets and sidewalks.
Parents and care givers are asked to review the following safety reminders:
Slow down and drive with care, especially near parks and recreation centres
Use crosswalks or intersections to cross streets safely. Never step out into traffic between parked cars
Bicycle helmets are required by law for children and reduce the risk of head injury when worn properly (http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/safety/pdfs/young-cyclist-guide.pdf)
Ensure that swimmers are always properly supervised
Never leave pets or children in a warm vehicle
Follow your children online. If you're not connected with them - who is?
The Perth County OPP wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable summer.
