(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH) - On Saturday, June 30, 2018, Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was notified of an Armed Robbery at the Esso Service Station on Highway 9 near Schomberg.
At approximately 8:30 pm, a lone male entered the gas station armed with a sawed off shotgun. The clerk was able to escape to an adjoining room, while the male helped himself to lottery tickets, cigarettes and a small amount of money. Total amount of cash taken is undetermined. The male fled in a vehicle, and investigators were able to determine the identity of the male and the vehicle from video surveillance.
The vehicle was located in Nobleton at the suspect's residence. A warrant was executed at the residence but the suspect was not there. However, the male was arrested by Barrie Police Service on July 1, 2018, on unrelated weapons charges. The weapon has been recovered.
Ronald "Harry" HAVERLOCK, age 37, of Nobleton, ON, is being held by Barrie Police awaiting a Bail Hearing. Charges for the New Tecumseth incident are currently being processed.
