(FORT FRANCES , ON) - On June 29, 2018, at approximately 8:00 PM, a member of the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop at the 100 block of First Street East. The officer spoke with the driver, who he determined was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment, where he underwent more tests.
As a result of the investigation, Derek HORTON, 45 years of age, of Rainy River First Nation Territory was charged with the following offences:
Driving with more than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
He was further charged with two offences under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend court in Fort Frances at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 30, 2018.
