(MUNICIPALITY KILLARNEY, ON) - On June 23, 2018 at approximately 11:25 p.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sudbury Detachment and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision involving a car and an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) in the Municipality of Killarney, Ontario.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Charles Street and St. Paul's Street in Killarney, Ontario. The operator of the ATV left the scene with the ATV.
Police conducted an investigation and were able to determine the identity of the ATV operator. On July 3, 2018, Kurtis TYSON, 49 years of age, from Killarney, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident, contrary to section 252 of the CC
No Driver's Licence, contrary to Regulation 316/03 Section 18(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Not Properly Insured, contrary to Regulation 316/03 Section 17 of the HTA
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, Ontario on August 15, 2018.
The ATV involved in this incident is still outstanding. It is described as a newer model grey Honda with extensive damage to the right front side and wheel.
