(SOUTH HURON, ON) - A 21-year-old from Kitchener is facing a charge of Refuse to Provide Breath Sample following a traffic stop that occurred last weekend near Exeter.
Just before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a report of a driver that was travelling eastbound on Dashwood Road toward Exeter in an erratic manner. A few minutes later a Huron OPP caught up to the suspect vehicle and stopped the car on Dashwood Road near Hern Line.
Upon speaking with the male driver the investigating officer had reasonable suspicion to believe the driver had consumed some alcohol. A breath demand was given to the driver however the driver refused to provide a sample.
He was placed under arrest and was subsequently charged with Refuse to Provide Breath Sample. He has since been released from court with a court appearance scheduled for August 23, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Exeter. His driver's licence was suspended for an automatic 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
