(WEST PERTH, ON) - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Perth County Detachment are investigating four break, enter and theft occurrences in the Municipality of West Perth.
The residential properties, all located within the Town of Mitchell were entered during the early morning hours of July 21, 2018. Garages with unlocked entry points were targets for thieves, who removed sporting equipment, wallets, a small quantity of cash, and miscellaneous items. Unlocked motor vehicles in the garages were also entered.
With property crimes prevalent during the warmer months, Perth County OPP are urging homeowners to make the following a habit:
Securely lock residence doors and windows
Lock all garage doors/entry points (including man doors and windows)
Always engage the lock of any door leading to an attached garage
Use exterior lighting (criminals don't like being seen)
Lock your vehicle and always remove the keys
Remove all valuables from vehicles
Do not leave bicycles unlocked
