(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On Thursday July 19, 2018 at approximately 12:00 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a fail to remain collision on Wellington Road 21, Inverhaugh. It was reported that a vehicle had struck a guard rail, drove across a lawn and hit a light pole before driving away from the scene.
Police located the driver of a grey sedan and while speaking with the female driver, formed the opinion that she was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
40-year-old Sherri L. McKNIGHT of Erin has been charged with Driving while Impaired, Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and for Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on August 17, 2018.
