(TEMAGAMI, ON) - On August 4, 2018 at approximately 1:37 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for a traffic complaint on Highway 11, south of Temagami, Ontario. The vehicle was located in the ditch, in the Town of Temagami, Ontario. The male driver was transported to hospital. Further investigation revealed that the male driver had been consuming alcohol.
Larry KARL, 67-years-old, of London, Ontario is arrested and charged with the following:
Drive while ability impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (C.C.),
Fail or refuse to provide sample, contrary to section 254(3) of the C.C.,
Dangerous operation of motor vehicle, contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the C.C,
Causing a disturbance, contrary to section 175(1)(a) of the C.C., and
Having liquor in open container in other than licenced premises, residence or private place, contrary to section 31(2) of the Liquor Licence Act (L.L.A.).
The vehicle was towed from the scene, and impounded. The accused was released by way of Promise to Appear (PTA). He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on August 14, 2018, in Haileybury, Ontario.
