(HURON EAST, ON) - A fatal car crash that occurred yesterday afternoon east of Clinton remains under investigation by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment and West Region OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) Team.
At approximately 2:17 p.m. Huron OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and Central Huron Fire Department members were dispatched to the crash scene located on Huron Road (Highway 8) east of Front Road.
Investigators have since determined a small passenger car was travelling westbound on Huron Road (Highway 8) when for unknown reasons the car crossed over the centre line and collided head-on with an eastbound minivan.
The male driver and lone occupant of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as Jonathan WAIN, 22 years of age, from Central Huron.
Both occupants of the mini-van were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated from their heavily damaged vehicle.
The driver of the minivan, 67-year-old Nancy PHILLIPS and her passenger 68-year-old John PHILLIPS both from Clinton remain in hospital in good condition.
