(SEVERN TOWNSHIP, ON) - On September 17, 2018 at 2:44 pm officers on patrol from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a male driver on an ATV who had crashed into the Coldwater Beer Store. Attending officers located an ATV beside the Beer Store with a male driver who had not crashed into the Beer Store but had been refused service at the Beer Store by staff. Officers spoke with the male driver and entered into a drinking and driving investigation resulting in Edmund ENGEL 29 years of Severn Township being charged with the following offences.
Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired - motor vehicle (Alcohol and Drug) contrary to section 253 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253 (1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
His vehicle has been impounded for 7 days and his driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) He was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on September 27, 2018.
