(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On Sunday January 20, 2019 at approximately 3:50 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an erratic driver operating a grey motor vehicle on Highway 7 near Wellington Road 44. Witness advised that the vehicle was all over the road and failed to stop at a red light.
Police located the vehicle that matched the description and conducted a traffic stop.
While speaking with the male driver officers formed the opinion that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and he was placed under arrest. He was transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing where he refused to comply with the demand to provide a breath sample.
36-year-old Jason COKE of Guelph has been charged with Refusing to Provide/Comply with Demand contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on February 19, 2019 to answer to the charge.
A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
