(GODERICH, ON) - A Huron East resident has been charged with uttering counterfeit money following an investigation by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
OPP officers were contacted by two separate Goderich businesses on January 15, 2019 after they both realized they had taken in counterfeit US money. In the first instance, on January 14, 2019 the accused passed a counterfeit $100 USD at a restaurant in Goderich to pay for her meal. Shortly thereafter the accused purchased cigarettes and gasoline at a gas station in Goderich with another counterfeit $100 USD bill.
A subsequent police investigation resulted in police identifying the accused. She was arrested by Huron OPP and taken into custody without incident on January 17, 2019.
Karley FRAYER, 29 years of age from Huron East has been charged with two counts of Uttering Counterfeit Money and one count of Fail to Comply with Probation Order. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 28, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
