(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - On March 25, 2019 at approximately 10:11 p.m., a Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling Highway 10 when he came upon a pick-truck parked partially in the live lane on the east of the highway between Road 110 and Road 120 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. The vehicle was parked in such a way that it was a traffic hazard and created a dangerous condition.
The officer found the lone driver asleep behind the steering wheel with the keys in the ignition. The driver, who was awakened by police, showed signs of impairment. As a result, the driver was given a roadside breath test which registered a "fail". The driver was arrested and transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for breath tests which upon completion registered more than four times the legal limit. Given the high blood alcohol concentration the driver was transported to hospital as a precaution. The driver was medically cleared and returned to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment where she was lodged until sober.
The driver, 35-year old Marsha WILLIAMS of Oromocto, New Brunswick, was charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
She is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on April 18, 2019.
