(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On June 9, 2019, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on East Mill Street in the village of Elora. Initial reports indicated that a black pickup-truck had struck a parked vehicle and that the driver was possibly impaired.
While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Victor Jimmy HOLMES, 51-years-old of Elora, has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mg of alcohol in 100mL of blood). A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 9, 2019.
