(DUBLIN, ON) - Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on July 4, 2019, a member of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County detachment observed a black sedan travelling west on Line 42 in the Municipality of West Perth at a rate of speed that exceeded the posted speed limit.
The sedan then struck a SUV stopped on Line 42 and continued to travel south on Road 180. The sedan was damaged due to the collision and the driver abandoned the sedan on Road 180. The female driver fled on foot into Huron County.
Officers from Huron County OPP along with officers from the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT and K9) responded to assist with the incident.
A female, the lone occupant of the sedan was located uninjured by ERT and K9 a short distance away. She was arrested and charged.
Kelsey CHAPMAN, 18-years-old, of Huron East was charged with the following offences;
Flight from peace officer
Dangerous operation
Fail to Comply with Sentence
Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Fentanyl
The driver was also charged for several infractions under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance act.
The female was held for a Bail Hearing in Ontario Court of Justice, Goderich on July 5, 2019.
