(ATWOOD, ON) - On July 17, 2019 at approximately 12:00 p.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), North Perth detachment was investigating the report of a stolen All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV). The ATV was reported stolen sometime overnight from a rural residence on Line 78, northwest of Atwood. A male drove by the officer on the same ATV. The officer quickly arrested the male driver without incident. The male driver was arrested and charged.
Justin BELL, 29-years-old, of North Perth was charged the following;
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Driving while under suspension
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on August 26, 2019 to answer the charges.
The ATV was returned undamaged to the Owner.
Vehicle owners can do simple things to decrease the risk of being victimized, such as:
Never leave a running vehicle unattended;
Lock your doors;
Roll up your windows;
Keep valuables out of sight;
Pocket your keys;
Always park in a well-lit area.
