(CENTRAL HURON, ON) - A 39-year-old from Bluewater has been charged with Impaired Operation and Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last night (23July).
A few minutes before 10:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers received information that a driver may be driving while impaired by alcohol. In response to the traffic complaint officers immediately started patrolling for the suspect vehicle. Later that evening officers located the suspect vehicle travelling on Mill Street in Clinton.
A traffic stop was initiated and upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer observed signs that the driver had been drinking alcohol. A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted and the driver performed poorly. As a result the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. Both of her samples provided to the Intoxilizer Technician were over the legal limit.
Kelly COLLINS, 39 years of age, from Bluewater has been charged with Impaired Operation & Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. She was later released from custody with a court date scheduled for August 12, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. Her vehicle was impounded and her licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
