(HURON EAST, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against two Stratford residents in relation to a recovered stolen vehicle investigation that took place earlier this week.
On the morning of July 24, 2019 a Huron OPP officer attended a residential property located on Line 34 just east of St. Columban in an effort to locate a wanted person. Upon arrival the investigating officer observed a male and a female with a Chevrolet Blazer that was parked on the property.
Prior to establishing contact with the male he quickly departed into a nearby residence. Upon further investigation the investigating officer determined the 2005 Chevrolet Blazer had been reported stolen on June 23, 2019 from the City of London.
The female suspect was taken into custody and upon speaking with the property owner it was learned the male suspect did not have permission to be on the property. A search of the residence ensued and the male suspect was found hiding in an attic. The male suspect was taken into custody without incident. Police later learned the male suspect was currently serving a probation sentence.
