(WEST PERTH, ON) - Over the August 24th to 26th weekend, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Perth detachment were kept busy with three separate incidents in the Municipality of West Perth.
On August 24, 2019 at approximately 11:30 p.m., police were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Mitchell and stopped a motor vehicle.
Officers determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to the Sebringville OPP detachment for further testing.
Steve MARTENE, 47-years-old, of Huron East was arrested and charged with;
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
On August 25, 2019 at approximately 2:45 p.m., police were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program near Monkton and observed a motor vehicle trying to avoid police.
Officers stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to the Listowel OPP detachment for further testing.
Paul BOYCE, 56-years-old, of Kitchener was arrested and charged with;
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Both drivers are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on September 9, 2019 to answer the charges.
Both drivers had their driver's licence seized and a 90 Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) was imposed. Both vehicles was towed and impounded.
On August 25, 2019 at approximately 7:00 p.m., police responded to the report of an intoxicated male at the Mitchell Ball Park.
OPP officers responded quickly and the male was located.
Christopher SKINNER, 46-years-old, of West Perth was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in public place and was issued a Provincial Offence Notice (PON).
The male was held at the Sebringville OPP detachment until he was sober.
