(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On August 23, 2019, at approximately 2:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious vehicle call at a business on Elora Street in Harriston. The vehicle was described as a white cube van bearing an Ontario marker, which was provided to police who confirmed that the vehicle was stolen.
Officers located the vehicle and driver and placed him under arrest. During a search of the vehicle and driver, officers seized a capped syringe and a baggy that appeared to contain crystal methamphetamine. While speaking with the driver, officers observed obvious signs of impairment. Officers transported the accused to a nearby OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
Investigation revealed that the driver was prohibited from driving due to a previous criminal conviction.
Zachary BLUNDELL, 25-years-old of Hanover has been charged with Operation While Impaired by Drug, Operation While Prohibited and Possession of Stolen Property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Possession of Methamphetamine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on September 24, 2019.
