Officers responded quickly and located the motor vehicle. In speaking with the female driver, it was determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to the Sebringville OPP detachment for further testing.
Mwange SAMPA, 23-years-old, of West Perth was arrested and charged with;
Operation while impaired - alcohol
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The female is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on September 16, 2019 to answer the charges.
The female driver had her driver's licence seized and a 90 Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) was imposed. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded by statute.
"The main danger of drinking and driving is that alcohol impairs certain functions and faculties that are necessary to safely operate a vehicle. This includes the driver's ability to concentrate and make sound judgments. Decreased coordination and reaction time can increase the chances of getting into or causing a collision", Acting Staff Sergeant Jason McTaggart, Operations Manager, Perth County OPP.
