(SHAKEPEARE, ON) - On October 13, 2019 at approximately 3:45 a.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Perth County detachment, was on general patrol and observed a motor vehicle travelling on Perth Road 101 near Punkey Doodles Corner. The officer conducted a traffic stop to speak with the driver.
While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the officer determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to the Sebringville OPP detachment for further testing.
Derek DUNKLEY, 34-years-old, of Guelph was arrested and charged with;
Operation while impaired - alcohol
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on November 13, 2019 to answer the charges.
On October 16, 2019 at approximately 1:30 a.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Perth County detachment, was on general patrol and observed a motor vehicle travelling on Perth Line 34 east of Shakespeare. The vehicle was caught on radar travelling at more than double the posted limit of 80 km/hr. The officer conducted a traffic stop to speak with the driver.
While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the officer determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver failed a roadside screening device and was arrested and transported to the Sebringville OPP detachment for further testing.
Sharmake HAGI, 24-years-old, of Kitchener was arrested and charged with;
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on November 13, 2019 to answer the charge.
Both driver's had their driver's licence seized and a 90 Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) was imposed. The vehicles were towed and impounded.
